Max is a designer based out of central Texas with an expansive skillset in theatre, art, technology, and education. Originally from Monterrey, N.L., his work in theatre has been featured in Houston, San Antonio, and Austin with various theatre companies working from acting, stage managing, directing, education, and design. He holds an AA in Theatre from College of the Mainland (Texas City), and a BFA in Theatre Education from Texas State University (Terry Scholar, Summa Cum Laude), where upon graduating, he became a theatre teacher for five years as a mentor and director working for the wonderful students and communities of San Antonio ISD. He is now a third year MFA Candidate at Texas State as a Scenic Design major, expected to graduate Spring of 2026.
Using all of his knowledge and experiences in every other role he has taken on in theatre, he strives for creating designs that harmonize with other collaborators' work, the characters that inhabit the space, and building an encase for the heart of the production's story. Max is the recipient of awards such as Broadway World San Antonio Best Scenic Design for "Somewhere Over the Border" (2024), San Antonio Magazine's Teacher of the Year (2023), and various others as a theatre educator for his productions submitted for UIL One Act Play Competitions in Texas. Max is fluent in English, Español, and is learning Deutsch.
